The Creative Flair

Welcome to my blog! In this space, I will be sharing my craft ideas, display bulletin board designs, and engaging content on a wide range of activities. Whether you’re looking for inspiration, information, or just something entertaining to read, my blog has something for everyone. Join us on this journey of discovery and let’s explore new ideas together.

With every post I share, I’m going to mention if it’s my idea or I found it on the internet.

Our Section’s Theme for the Academic Year (2023 – 2024)

I’m glad that the theme of the KG Section in our school for this academic year is my idea. I call it “Places To Go”. Kids should know everything around them in the world, and because that not all the kids able to go to all of them or haven’t been at any place of them before, so I suggested this theme that is really fun, and the places are:

  1. Circus
  2. Park
  3. Museum
  4. Mall
  5. Cafe or restaurant
  6. Bookstore
  7. Theater
  8. Studio
  9. Hotel
  10. Garage
  11. Cinema

Students will be able to learn new vocabulary words and they will express their feelings about each place. Plus that the teachers can arrange visits to each class ‘place’ as if they are visiting a real place with reading stories and playing songs about the classroom’s theme. And after visiting each classroom, the students can draw about that place.

It’s very educational and they develop a sense of belonging which eventually tunes in awareness, so they become confident in moving around. Learning about places in city helps kids integrate to their community and also improves their language skills. We will enrich their imagination and will be able to make their own stories even with drawings until they know how to write sentences.

For us, our class’s theme is about “Museum”. At the beginning I thought it’s going to be hard, and thought how I can deliver the theme to kids in KG 2 in a simple and fun way. Specially that it’s a new theme and couldn’t find something on the internet related to it.

The photos below are my sketches when I started planning and brainstorming for the new theme.

“A museum theme is an interesting decoration for a classroom, we go, explore and live the history” a quote written by my niece. 😉

Some of the pictures when we’re working together on it

We tried to get all the decorations, starting from outside the classroom to the inside, to be related to each others and get the feeling that it’s really a museum but for kids. The numbers on the blocks are for the number line on the floor, I tried to choose the shades of the brown color cause it’s warm and deep, and it represents nature, earth and history.
I thought that a huge tree outside will add more to the design specially that most of the colors are dull and dark.

And then we started working on the activities of the first week for the students.

Most of the resources are from https://www.twinkl.ae/ and only one free cutting worksheet from https://pbskids.org/curiousgeorge/printables/dino.html.

And while I was working on the activities, I suddenly got the idea of the border of the bulletin boards, and with help of our class nanny the idea came true.

We can’t regret that the story of ‘Curious George Dinosaur Discovery’ inspired me as I’m a big fan of Curious George and specially this story. That’s why I added the character of Curious George and his friend the Man with the yellow hat to the decorations to add more fun to the classroom and attract the kids to it.

And That’s the result

Click on the arrows to see all the pictures

That’s not the end of the design idea, but I added also more details related to theme ‘Museum’.

I designed that computer background so when we open the projector, it will show on the whiteboard in a big size and everyone in the classroom will able to see it.

Plus I designed tickets to distribute to the students on the first day of school when they enter the classroom with the date of their first day ‘29/8/2023’ and our classroom ‘KG 2D’.

And a similar design to the tickets to add it on the ‘Story File’ that we send weekly to the students.

And even the students’ cubbies, but unfortunately I don’t have a close photo of them.

The designs may be downloaded and used as you like, but I hope you tag me and share them on social media as an appreciation. The files are free to download, I used free clipart from google except the Egyptian Queen as I have a license of it.

I’m working using iWork applications (Keynote, Pages and Numbers), but I usually export the files to be able to use them with Office applications (PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
I grouped all the elements of the design except the text to edit them easily. Just you click on the text and write.

To use exactly the same fonts, you may need to download these fonts for free from https://www.dafont.com

And these fonts are: Century SchoolBook and Baguet Script

And these are screenshots of my PowerPoint files

I hope you like the post and you see it as an inspiration for your next theme, and you are free to ask me any question about the theme or the files.

Everyone wants to be appreciated, so if you appreciate someone, don’t keep it a secret.

And last but not least, I would like to thank the team that I’m part of, for making the ideas come true. I couldn’t do anything without them.
Love you Ms. Zakia and Ms. Jane. You are much appreciated. ❤️

Themes for Classrooms at the KINDERGARTEN and ELEMENTARY Level

Part 1

Today’s post will be all about themes for classrooms. Having a colorful, themed classroom should also be done next to the classroom organization and management. You should put time and effort into designing your learning environment with purpose and craft.

Designing a classroom theme is like a unifying idea, as in a work of art. Crafting a theme that is both fun, special , and original is a fantastic way to engage the students and foster a positive learning environment. Plus creating different enchanting settings in each corner of the classroom.

After the success of my last year’s classroom theme, I’m thrilled to return with a fresh move of excitement and innovation for the upcoming academic year. I have curated some ideas that are fun and original that promise to captivate and engage the students like never before.

With a blend of whimsical charm, educational depth, and student-centered focus, l’m eager to unleash this new thematic adventure and make the coming year an unforgettable journey of growth and discovery for all in the classroom.

They are 3 general themes as the following:

  • The first theme is “Places in Dubai”, as I’m living in Dubai and there are lots of places that are unique. You can make “Places in Egypt” also as Egypt has many special and historic places, and also “Places in Lebanon” cause it has lots of nice natural attractions.
  • The second theme is “ School supplies”, At the beginning of each academic year, the kids are always excited to buy their school supplies. We can feel it and smell the preparations in the air.
  • And lastly, the very special one to my heart and unique is “Games”. Yes, yes, as you read it.

I’m going to share with you the design of the door that I drew by myself to give you ideas about how to do it. Plus sharing some photos that I saved from Google to give you an idea about the objects that you can draw and add inside your classroom with your touch. My goal is to spark your imagination and encourage you as teachers to infuse your own expertise and passion into these concepts, allowing you to tailor the ideas to suit your unique teaching styles and classroom settings.

I’m sharing with each general theme their secondary themes, as we have here in our school, the class theme should be related to the whole section (the general theme) so you’ll feel that all the classrooms are connected to each others.

Now, let’s start with the first theme “Places in Dubai”, I chose the following places:

  1. Dubai Frame
  2. Kidzania
  3. Wild Wadi
  4. Dubai Parks and Resorts ( LEGO Land and Motiongate)
  5. Mall of the Emirates
  6. Dubai Opera
  7. The Museum of the Future
  8. Ski Dubai
  9. Jumeirah Mosque
  10. The Green Planet

Dubai Frame

This is my design for the door

And these are the pictures that I saved from the Google to support you with the objects that you’re going to add inside your classroom.

Themes for Classrooms at the KINDERGARTEN and ELEMENTARY Level

Part 2

Now, I’m going to introduce the second theme for you, and it’s named “School Supplies”. I chose the following:

  1. Crayons
  2. Pencil, eraser, paper, clip and sharpener
  3. Coloring pencils
  4. Paint
  5. Blackboard and chalk
  6. Craft, glue stick and scissors
  7. Blocks
  8. Connecting cubes
  9. iPad
  10. Play dough

In this them I used clipart pictures to help me finish the sketches faster as I still have many sketches left to draw in the third theme.

Crayons

There’s something I would like to share about the “Crayons” theme. Usually they use the yellow color for the crayon box, so they use it also for any idea related to the crayons, but in my design I use the white crumpled paper. We want to make something different. We want to be different.

And these are the photos

Pencils

Try to make 3D objects to stick them on the door. That’s why I put for you some 3D designs from birthday party themes to add. Not only for the door, but also inside the classroom, you can add these 3D objects in the corners of the bulletin boards or in the reading corner. You may use the pipe cleaners to form the giant paper clips.

The Google pictures

I uploaded for you some photos that you can use during the first week of school like, the Photo Booth ideas and a craft for each student in a frame with the same theme.

Play Dough

You can print your elements in A4 and A3, cut and stick on the door to get the play dough effect easily.

You can use the play dough in all the centers in your classroom, I found on Pinterest many nice and special ideas. Just be creative 😉.

And I found also the “Play-Doh Characters” online if you would like to use them in your classroom.

Craft
And now, I’m thrilled to show you my design of the “Craft” Class theme.

I have got many different ideas of the centers and the activities all over the year using cardboard in many subjects inspired by the photos below. I know that it may take some time to setup the class using cardboards but if you have a helpful team, you will have it done on time. You can’t imagine the fun and the happiness with the hands-on activities and the craft ideas for boys and girls, and even the teachers will enjoy each activity which will make everyone love to go to school everyday. All of those things will affect positively on the learning process of the students.

If you’re looking for a creative design service that can bring the theme ideas to life, look no further! I’m here to help you turn your vision into reality. Let me be your partner in making your themes’ ideas shine.

Themes for Classrooms at the KINDERGARTEN and ELEMENTARY Level

Part 3

🎮 The most exciting Theme “Games” 🎮

I’ve designed a new classroom theme called “Games” to bring more fun and engagement into our learning spaces! From board games to interactive challenges, this theme aims to inspire creativity and collaboration among students. 🌟

Teachers and principals, feel free to share your feedback and comments with me and join the fun! 🎲🎮 Also feel free to personalize it further to match your style!

With this theme, you can use colored cardboard to draw and cut immediately, and also you can print on A3 paper size then cut and stick on the door to get the photo effect that you want. If you want to enjoy more each moment preparing for your classroom theme, you can draw on a white cardboard (using the projector) and paint as you like.

As I shared with you earlier, if you need any help with the designs inside your classroom, I’m happy to assist you. From flash cards to hands-on-activities and any design related to the decorations with good quality and price to support.

Still until now I play games, and I’m sure that some of you are still doing the same thing too. From games that we used to play since we were kids or the games that we download on our phones and iPad, I’m a fan of games and toys that bring fun and excitement into our lives. I’m also a LEGO trained teacher on how to use some LEGO Education products, so I’m in games from everywhere.

Each game is a world, and once you start thinking of it, you’ll have lots of ideas that you can try with your students and grab their attention using their favorite games.

And now the secondary themes of the basic “Games” are as the following:

  1. Pictionary
  2. UNO
  3. Connect 4
  4. Toca World
  5. Monopoly
  6. Dominos
  7. Lego
  8. Scrabble
  9. Meccano
  10. Crossy Castle
  11. Miniature House
  12. Minecraft
  13. Chess

You can’t imagine how many educational activities that you can do with your students through these themes and games. Even the games that you should download on your phone or tablet like Toca World. You can ask your students to create their own characters and decorate their houses and come to school for a “Show and Tell” and let each student express themselves in front of their friends and talk about their work. Later on you can ask them to record a video of a short story with sequence (First, Next, Then and Last). Or simplify it with taking pictures to write simple sentences about each one of them. Even in Math, you can make different math problems using the game.

For the “Chess” you can add colors to the pieces and make it fun.🤩 As you now I’m sharing with you the design of the door, I hope you like them.
